About the Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitality Association (HEYHA) - Sponsors of the Hull & East Yorkshire Copper Saucepan Award for Apprentice Chef of the Year Competition 2009
Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitality Association was formed on 1st January 2007. Now in its 3rd Year it comprises of all the major hotel establishments in the area, which represents 1200 quality 3 Star bedrooms in Hull and East Yorkshire.

Aim – to improve the business of hospitality in the City region for the membership
Main activities summary :-
- Instant network for members to facilitate, working together to achieve common goals
- Information sharing all aspects that effect the hotel market, the DMS, locally , events, competition legislation ,hotel grading etc
- Lobbying DMO and Hull Conference Bureau to increase and prioritise Business Tourism - Paul Whymant is Vice Chairman of DMO and Paul Vinsen and Martin Jorgensen are Board Members.
- The Association and its members have supported and partnered initiatives such as Hull Global Foodfest (with the Hull College and the Journal), Comedy Festival, Clipper Weekend, Bounty Visit, Beverley Food Festival and Folk Festival.
- Improvement of referrals between members, this has been particularly useful during periods of high demand
- Joint legislative courses for First Aid, Hygiene , Health &Safety
- Lobbying re the Hull Night time economy , Steve Tradewell is Chairman of
- Clubwatch.and a Board member of Hull BID (Business Improvement District)
Point of contact for VHEY,Yorkshire Tourist Board, Hull City BID, Chamber of Commerce, Hull Forward, Hull College, St Stephens, Hull Conference Bureau The Deep, Clipper always looking at ways to develop and support joint initiatives
The Association sponsored the Apprentice of the Year competition part of the Hull Global Food Fest. and has given us the opportunity for showcasing the talent of newly qualified while raising the profile of working in the industry. Danny Holt, Lazaat won the Competition in 2007, Kevin Riding of Tickton Grange won in 2008.
The Association meets between 8 a.m. -10.30 a.m. eight times a year approximately every six weeks.
Members also have had a visits to Beverley Races , supported the Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner, Princes Trust Dinner, attended the soft opening of the new Express by Holiday Inn Hull City, and visited the Michelin starred Winteringham Fields for lunch.
