Hull city centre is set to host its third 3 day Global Food Fest from the 4th- 6th September 2009. With a main event stage, marquees and markets as well as a complete programme of entertainment, there really will be something for everyone!

There are some exciting changes to the festival site this year, which will include:

  • Feast of Yorkshire & the Humber Marquee
  • Family and Education Marquee
  • Continental Market
  • Main event Stage
  • Global Food Marquee
  • Farmer's Market
  • Best of British Marquee

In 2008, celebrity chef and host of BBC2’s Ready Steady Cook, Ainsley Harriott, took to the main stage on the Saturday of the festival, creating mouth-watering dishes and sharing hilarious tales of his many years in the spotlight.

The identity of our headline celebrity chef is yet to be revealed but they will certainly have a hard act to follow, treading in the footsteps of previous celebrities James Martin and Ainsley Harriott.

Last year’s event proved to be huge success once again with around 60,000 extra visitors flocking to the centre of Hull to grab a taste of the action. This year’s line-up of chefs, exhibitors, demonstrators and stall holders promises to be just as impressive, showcasing the best in local produce and global cuisine.

If all this were not exciting enough, there is an exciting twist to the 2009 event…

We are linking up with the Round the World Clipper Yacht Race, to mark the prestigious launch, which is being hosted by Hull this year along with the nail-biting finish. All of the Clipper crews will have a chance to sample a vast range of Global cuisine before they even leave our coastline, and we can’t wait to send them off in style!

For the duration of the festival, the centre of Hull will once again be transformed into a bustling hub of activity with several key locations hosting markets, demonstrations, speciality produce and, of course, giving away free samples!

The festival offers a great time for all the family, particularly with our new Family and Education Marquee. Our markets provide a range of products from around the world and the main stage programme, crammed top chefs, will provide visitors with expert hints and tips!

If you want to be a part of this fantastic event then we’d love to hear from you.
